World Expo

Deng Ya Ping was born in 1973 and is a famous table tennis player. She has won 18 World Championships, and has won 2 Olympic Games 4 times, ranking first in the world rankings for 8 years in a row. Since 1997, he has studied at Tsinghua University, University of Nottingham and University of Cambridge, and has obtained a bachelor's degree in English, a master's degree in Contemporary Chinese Studies and a doctorate in economics. In the past eight hundred years in University of Cambridge, for the first time, a heavyweight top athlete like Deng Ya Ping received his Ph.D. degree. In 2002, he held the post of two committees of the International Olympic Committee ethics committee and the sports and Environment Committee. He served as executive member of the Chinese Olympic Committee in February 2005 and vice minister of the Olympic Village Ministry of the twenty-ninth Olympic Games Organizing Committee in March 2007. He became the Eleventh CPPCC National Committee member in March 2008 and officially became deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Youth League in April 2009.

I can see from the news that the Expo site in Shanghai is blooming day by day, and all the preparatory work is in full swing. I can not help thinking of the busy days and nights in Beijing Olympic village last year.

In 2008, in order to realize the dream of the Chinese nation's 100 years Olympic Games, I worked with numerous staff members of the Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee. I know that 184 days of World Expo and a longer preparation process are a great test for Shanghai and 19 million Shanghai citizens.

From the experience of the OCOG, my experience is that in the face of the big test, we must pay more attention to small details. Because details often determine success or failure.

For example, in the Olympic Village furniture design, considering that there will be such a high athlete like Yao Ming, the ordinary two meters long bed must be unsuitable and must be lengthened. Then we have to determine the number of athletes who need this, and customize them accordingly. These links must be envisaged in advance.

For example, from the idea of frugal Olympics, the furniture in the Olympic village should give priority to disabled athletes in design, otherwise it will cause great waste. It is also a wardrobe, the clothing pole should be installed in the wheelchair athletes can also get the height; taking into account the wheelchair athletes up and down the bed is not convenient, we deliberately raise the side plate of the bed, increase the load-bearing capacity of the beam, so that the wheelchair can be directly pushed to the bottom of the bed, so that the athlete's knees can reach the edge of the bed, so as to reduce the possibility of accidents. Some handicapped athletes have no arms or fingers, and the design of drawers and cupboards is much more envisaged for them. Finally, we turn all the furniture handles into a U groove with the same plane as the furniture surface, and it is safe and convenient to use.

Now, these are very small links, and such examples are too many, though they are cumbersome, but they are related to the success or failure of the Olympic Village games. Though small, ordinary or even boring, it contains all staff's deep respect for the Olympic movement.

The Beijing Olympic Games will meet more than 16000 athletes, officials and more than 20 thousand journalists. The Expo Park will receive about 70 million tourists from all over the world. We can imagine how many details we need to envisage and how many challenges we need to face.

A large part of these work depends on the participation of volunteers. It is up to all the people to cooperate with them. I hope that the young volunteers in World Expo, Shanghai can transmit the vitality and smile of the "nest generation", dedicate this sincere dedication to every visitor to Yu Shibo park.

Looking forward to the opening of the curtain in World Expo, Shanghai in May 1, 2010, we are looking forward to a great event to explore the new century's urban life.

I believe that the World Expo of Shanghai will, like the Beijing Olympic Games, leave good memories to every participant in the world and inject a lasting and far-reaching force to the enhancement of the humanistic spirit of a city and even a country.

I believe that every effort and every detail will be condensed into the remembering of history.
