APEC Hu Jintao Promotes Liberalization Of Trade And Investment

Hu Jintao pointed out that this year is the last time limit for the APEC developed members to achieve Bogor's goals, which is milestone in the APEC development.

APEC should continue adhering to the spirit of Bogor's goal, take the initiative to adapt to the new situation, actively respond to new challenges, give full play to its own advantages, constantly reform and improve, and play a greater role in the following aspects.

We should take the opportunity of the Bogor target review this year to promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment and accelerate the convenient flow of goods, services, personnel and capital in the region.

We should take concrete actions against all forms of protectionism, and continue to undertake and strictly enforce new restrictions on commodities, investment and services.

We will push forward the Doha Round negotiations to achieve comprehensive and balanced results and achieve the goals of the development round as soon as possible.

We support accelerating the in-depth study of the Asia Pacific Free Trade Area, advancing step by step at different levels and in various ways.

Second, speed up the implementation of growth strategy and improve the quality of economic growth.

We should have a deep understanding of the importance of economic growth strategy and enhance the initiative and steadiness in carrying out the strategy. We should implement it through various forms such as policy exchange, capacity building and cooperation projects.

APEC should strengthen coordination among all the agencies, form joint efforts, strengthen cooperation with the group of twenty and other mechanisms, give full play to its advantages and complement each other, so as to accelerate the recovery and growth of the Asia Pacific region's economy and the world economy.

Third, we should strengthen economic and technological cooperation, enhance the independent development capacity and endogenous driving force of developing members.

China has decided to work together with all members to develop APEC Skills development projects, establish APEC Skills Development Promotion Centers, and help developing members strengthen human resources capacity-building.

Hu Jintao said that China is ready to learn from each other, learn from each other's strengths, complement each other, and develop equally.

China will continue to actively develop relations with its members and work together with all parties to create a regional environment for peace, stability, equality, mutual trust, cooperation and win-win cooperation and make positive contributions to building a harmonious Asia Pacific region with lasting peace and common prosperity.
