Designer Entrepreneurship Sales

COWAY and cat paw jump are two graduating girls from the Academy of fine arts. They worked in their respective units for more than a year. Two little girls resolutely fired the boss, and began to concentrate on their own design of the "O" MESS doll.

The little girls reckoned that the sales of "O" MESS doll had totaled 1 million yuan since the "sea going".

In October 16th, Hangzhou opened the creative market. Many designers wanted to sell their works through the market. The experience of these two little girls may be very useful to designers.

In order to rush to work, he only slept two hours a day, and in the end he was fined 5000 yuan.

Yesterday afternoon, in a residence in Linjiang garden, Binjiang District, the reporter saw two people.

This is both design.

work

The three rooms and one living room of the workshop and processing workshop are more than 120 square meters. They are filled with cloth, cotton and all kinds of "O" MESS dolls, and several workers are buried in making dolls.

The name of COWAY is Xu Yingzhi. The cat's paw jumps to be called Cai Lingping. The two little girls are short hair and glasses.

Cai Lingping said that all two of them graduated from the Chinese Academy of Fine Arts in 2005.

Before the start of the business, two people worked in private companies.

In early 2007, two people were planning to develop their own alternative dolls.

There is a unified doll.

brand

It's called "O" MESS..

Soon, two people quit their jobs and concentrated on designing all kinds of "O" MESS dolls. Because of the lack of channels for production and sales, two people traveled around the animation festival and creative market in all parts of the country, hoping to promote their dolls.

Starting in 2007, Xu Yingzhi began to receive some lists.

The two little girls never commissioned factories to make their own work. Every time they had a list, they asked more casual workers to make dolls.

However, because of their initial lack of experience, Xu Yingzhi also suffered a lot.

"Once, we received orders from a women's clothing company in Shanghai, and let us design and make a batch of dolls. At that time, we set a delivery date, though it was still very intense, but we thought we could finish the task in a hurry."

Cai Lingping said.

But the production process is far from simple.

"At that time, we invited more than ten workers to sleep for two hours every day for the last five days, but we did not finish the order on time, and we were fined 5000 yuan."

With this experience, Xu Yingzhi has made a lot of rationality. Now, though the number of orders has been greatly improved, the two will no longer be in a hurry.

The alternative doll sold 1 million in two years.

In July this year, Xu Yingzhi began to focus on online promotion on Taobao and Alibaba.

Unexpectedly, in the first month of promotion, it received a list of more than 30 thousand yuan.

By August, the list reached more than 40 thousand yuan.

Xu Yingzhi said, now, their "O" MESS dolls have been spread all over the country, especially in northern cities, and sales are particularly good.

Not only that, the two little girls also received lists from countries such as Malaysia and took up international trade.

Just last month, the order of "O" MESS doll has reached a record high of 60 thousand yuan.

The two little girls reckoned that they had sold 1 million yuan "O" MESS doll since their resignation in October 2007.

The myth of "O" MESS is rare in Hangzhou and even in the whole country? Yu Jianguo, the curator of the creative market in West Lake, Hangzhou, and the Secretary General of Hangzhou comic Association, have dealt with hundreds of design teams all over the country. In his impression, only 5%-10% designers can achieve large-scale sales of their works.

In Yu Jianguo's view, to achieve mass production, the first thing is to design things to be practical; the other is to have production and sales channels, but many designers are students at school or just graduated, with limited social experience and few production and sales channels.

Now, Xu Yingzhi and Cai Lingping are developing the canvas bags and T-shirts of "O" MESS dolls.

Speaking of the next plan, Xu Yingzhi said: "we plan to outsource production to manufacturers. Now we have found a manufacturer in Guangzhou. Besides, we have plans to open a company."
