Pollution in supply chain

In April 11th, Wang Jingjing, deputy director of the public environment research center, said in an interview with reporters: "the above research report is the center for public environmental research. Since 2004, there have been up to 6000 records of violations of the textile enterprises published by various departments. Based on the investigation of the information of the illegal enterprises, we have excavated the brands supplied by these enterprises from the published annual reports and official websites of the enterprises. After putting the brands out, we sent out a reminder letter to the relevant brands to point out the environmental problems in their supply chain."

So where is the problem of Anta's supply chain?

With questions, reporters called Anta (China) Co., Ltd. and Anta China office, but as of press release, Anta phones and offices have no answer.

According to the reporter's further understanding, Anta has a production plant in Chi Dian Town, Jinjiang, so the reporter called the Jinjiang Environmental Protection Bureau of Fujian Province, and contacted the relevant environmental protection departments in charge of Anta Jinjiang production plant.

The Department staff told reporters: "according to our understanding of the situation, Anta has 14 production lines in our sub area, all of which are mainly processed sports shoes in the future. contaminated It's unlikely. "

However, after a brief description of some of the above reports, the staff member said: "if textile processing pollution is mentioned, the pollution caused by bleaching and dyeing is the most serious. If the problem of sewage discharge after dyeing and finishing is not solved, it will definitely cause pollution. In Jinjiang, Anta's 14 production lines do not have direct pollution, but the production of these shoes involves dyed leather and netting nylon materials. The production of these upstream materials may be designed to bleach and dye, and may cause pollution. "

When the reporter then asked whether the staff of the environmental protection department knew whether the suppliers who supplied these dyed leather and nylon materials were from where they came from, and the staff said they probably came from Zhejiang and Guangdong.

Anta hasn't replied yet

China's environmental statistics annual report (2010) shows that the textile industry ranks fourth in the emissions of COD (chemical oxygen demand) in 39 major industries, and the total wastewater discharge ranks third.

Some experts have openly stated that the textile industry has become one of the main sources of water pollution in China at the same time that China has become the world's textile factory. After studying the report carefully, the reporter found the case. According to the content of the report, Jinxing International Holding Co., Ltd. is a world-class knitwear manufacturer integrating vertical weaving, dyeing, finishing and finishing. In the survey, the public environmental research center found that the company has the following regulatory record: in 2007, the qualitative workshop exploded, caused a fire, and emitted a lot of potentially toxic smoke. Subsequently, according to the relevant links, the reporter opened the official website of Jinxing International Holdings Limited, and found that among the main customers listed in its official website, there were indeed Anta's LOGO.
