Li Dongxing (Ximon Lee) last year became the first Chinese (Han Yi) designer to win the H&M Design Award (H&M Design Award) and the first men's designer to win the honor. The award opened the door to students of Chinese fashion design school for the first time.

Previously, although many Chinese designers were selected, they were all graduates of overseas fashion colleges.

In the world, Li Dongxing and H&M launched a series of cooperation listed on that day sold out instantly.

On the night of the launch of H&M flagship store in Nanjing West Road, Shanghai, there was a long queue waiting to be purchased at the gate.

In other areas, the series is sold online only, but in the United States, Britain, Germany and other markets on sale day around 10 a.m. local time, from the selling price of 199 pounds.

Tight pants for the 19.99 pound were also sold out.

On Ebay, the cowboy jacket in the cooperation series was even sold to the original price more than two times.

The H&M design awards, founded in 2012, are open to graduates from 40 fashion design institutes worldwide, including the first Tsinghua University and Donghua University.

This is undoubtedly one of the signals released by the international fashion industry in recognition of China's fashion education.

"The award is aimed at graduates from the top design institutes in the world, and the competition is based on their graduation design," said Ann-Sofie Johansson, chief design officer of H&M's new development department.

Among the 23 graduating students who entered the semi-finals, there were 6 Chinese designers, accounting for 26% of the total number of entries.

They are Chen Xuzhi (Xuzhi Daniel Chen) who graduated from Central Saint Martins in London, Zou Jiahua (Ka College) of Royal College of Art in London (Royal College of Art), Xu Long of New York Parsons School of design (Parsons, Design Institute of Beijing), Xu Yaxin of Beijing Tsinghua University, Liao Chang and Liao Chang (Donghua University) of Donghua University in Shanghai.

"This is a big affirmation of my design and product market potential."

Chen Xuzhi, who entered the semi-finals, told BoF.

But Xu Long said: "I feel very lucky and happy, and I feel nervous at the same time.

I believe participating in this competition will be an unforgettable experience. "

It is worth noting that the 7 Chinese designers who entered the 26 semi-finals of this year's LVMH LVMH Prize also account for 26.9% of the total number.

It is no coincidence that Chinese designers account for over 1/4 of the finalists.

In recent years, the effectiveness of the tide of studying abroad is gradually emerging.

In the field of fashion design, more and more Chinese fashion designers are standing on the international stage, and become the object of competition between the major buyers and boutique stores.

The finalists will display their works in London in December 4th to the jury of H&M design awards.

Finally, the top 8 in the finals will show their works to audiences from around the world in December 7th.

The winner of this year's award will also be selected.

The award for this year's H&M Design Awards includes a cash award of 50 thousand euros and an opportunity to launch a partnership series with the retailer in September next year.

In addition to the previous winner Li Dongxing, the Chinese designers who had won the award included Li Xiao (Xiao Li), Li Jiapei (Andrea Jiapei Li), Graham Fan (Fan Zhiqian) and Huajia (Hua Jia).
