Egypt has issued new regulations requiring manufacturers of specific exports of Egypt to register with the Egyptian import and Export Control Administration (GOEIC). The unregistered products will not be released by the Egyptian customs.

The above registered products include 25 major categories, including food, light industry, electrical and mechanical products, including retail milk and dairy products, retail preserves and dried fruits, retail chocolate and food containing cocoa, sugar, cakes, retail juice, purified water, mineral water and carbonated soda, cosmetics, toiletries and perfumes, towels, tableware, furniture, household appliances, toys, footwear and so on.

The trade between Shenzhen and Egypt is frequent. The main commodities exported to Egypt are light industry and mechanical and electrical products. Most of them are registered commodities.

In order to ensure the smooth export of the products, the Shenzhen inspection and Quarantine Bureau reminds related enterprises and traders that they should study the new rules as soon as possible, prepare the materials required for registration, ensure the smooth clearance of the goods, and strengthen communication with the inspection and quarantine departments, continue to pay attention to the relevant technical trade measures in Egypt and avoid unnecessary trade disputes.

In accordance with the requirements of the new regulation, business registration requires not only the general materials such as business license and brand information, but also the certification of quality supervision and certification, compliance with environmental standards and ILO conventions, as well as the accreditation of the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Organization (ILAC).

The new regulation also stipulates that the shipping documents (bill of lading, invoice, certificate of origin, etc.) must be handed over to the importer bank directly by the exporter's Bank, not to the importer or to the importer's Bank through the exporter, otherwise it will be rejected.
