Textile Industry Promotes "Fashion Climate Innovation 2030 Action"

Do we need to innovate in tackling climate change? The United Nations initiative for sustainable development in 2030 has initiated a 2 degree control of the earth's temperature within 1.5 degrees. In this regard, the China Textile Industry Federation took the lead in becoming the first industry to carry out climate innovation in the consumer goods industry. Recently, sponsored by the office of social responsibility of the China Federation of textile industry, the "2019 climate innovation and fashion summit" launched jointly by well-known textile and garment enterprises and industry associations from around the world was held in Beijing. This is also China's first climate action Summit for manufacturing and consumer industries.

According to the briefing, the China Textile Industry Federation launched the 2020 carbon management innovation act in 2017. In 2018, it signed the UNFCCC convention with the 31 global brands and textile enterprises and 11 industry organizations to promote the global fashion industry to reduce the total emissions of greenhouse gases in the fashion industry by 30% in 2030, and phase out coal-fired boilers or other facilities that generate heat and electricity through coal combustion.

On this basis, the China Textile Industry Federation upgraded the action to the "fashion climate innovation 2030 action". It hopes to quickly shorten the recognition and application cycle of emission reduction innovation and emission reduction technology through industrial scale effect, enhance energy efficiency and energy innovation, reduce energy consumption costs, accelerate the transformation of low carbon, and create a low carbon brand of China's fashion industry through industrial collaboration, and enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese enterprises in the global low carbon supply chain.

The "fashion climate innovation special fund" was announced at the same time. The fund was set up under the China Green Carbon Sink foundation, and 7 enterprises such as CHENFENG group and Lan Jing group applied for the establishment of a donation enterprise.
