BINGTUAN Starts Environmental Protection Special Action, Illegal Tanning Industry Shut Down

In July 9th, the Corps issued the implementation plan of environmental protection special action in 2008, which marked the start of the operation.

The plan revealed that the focus of this year's special action is to supervise the operation of enterprises, key industries and drinking water source protection zones.

According to the briefing, the special operation will focus on urban sewage treatment, landfill and other industries, increase the supervision of desulphurization facilities of CHP enterprises, solve the problem of abnormal operation of desulphurization facilities, increase the supervision of the operation of pollution control facilities in the chemical industry, and strive to eliminate potential environmental safety risks and prevent environmental emergencies.

The special operation will also focus on special rectification of polluting enterprises in key river basins.

For the production projects that seriously violate the water environment, such as papermaking, tanning, printing and dyeing, which do not conform to the state's industrial policies, the times require the division to order them to shut down or shut down; for long-term, excessive discharge of pollutants, privately built underground pipes, stealing and discharging, direct discharge of pollutants, excessive discharge of sewage into the sewers, endangering the safe operation of the urban sewage treatment plants, and failing to place the "clean water launching" measures in place under the accident condition and serious pollution hazards, all enterprises will be closed down and banned.

According to the introduction, from July to October, the Corps environmental protection special action leading group of the Corps will organize relevant departments to focus on the environmental problems of drinking water source protection areas, sewage treatment plants and landfill sites, and key river basins.

According to statistics, in the past 5 years, the Corps environmental protection special action has dispatched 21178 environmental law enforcement officers (Times), inspected 3563 enterprises (Times), investigated and dealt with 342 Illegal cases, closed 108 enterprises of "fifteen small" enterprises, and listed and supervised 42 enterprises.
